Early Works

Early works associated with the Lismore Base Hospital redevelopment took place in 2013-14.

These included construction of some new and temporary buildings as well as demolition of some old buildings to make way for the new hospital towers.

The early works included:

  • construction of a new pathology building (see photo above) – to provide relocated and upgraded facilities for this important diagnostic service
  • construction of a new, temporary women’s care wing – with 10 post-natal beds
  • relocation of the mortuary – to a newly refurbished area providing more modern facilities and a new viewing room
  • demolition of the old pathology, mortuary and maternity buildings
