Stage 3b1 included the shell and core of the South Tower (Levels 6 to 11) and the construction of the helipad. Stage 3b2 represents the remaining construction work including the internal fit-out of the South Tower, demolition of the existing Block A, and construction of North Tower. North and South Tower will link together on each level. Internal refurbishments to the existing buildings will include a new Main Entrance, a new Coronary Care Ward, new Medical Ward, and new Outpatients/Community Health area.

Stage 3b will include:

  • new and expanded inpatient wards, including one medical and one sugical ward
  • a new integrated women’s care unit including maternity, special care nursery and birthing suite
  • a new paediatric unit
  • a new and expanded operating suite including nine operating theatres and two procedure rooms
  • new medical imaging services
  • new pharmacy
  • new front entry facilities
  • a new rooftop helipad.

The redevelopment will deliver an increase in health services, and enable new models of care to meet the changing needs of the local community.

Stage 3b will open in stages from 2017.

The $180 million project is being funded by the NSW Government.
